So many of us carry ideas, aspirations, and dreams for our future, and yet we stall when it’s time to act. When something truly matters to us, the possibility of it not being received can feel paralyzing.
This fear shows up everywhere.
In relationships - What if the person I want to be part of my life doesn't want me?
In growing our careers - What if I ask for a promotion or apply for a new position, but am rejected?
In sharing our creativity - What if what I write, say, or create is received with criticism?
In giving our gifts, building our businesses- What if I open the studio or agree to teach a class, and no one comes?
The more important something is to us, the stronger this fear becomes. Over the years, I have seen it manifest itself in different ways in different people: overthinking our decisions, over-preparing, convincing ourselves we don't have what it takes, rationalizing why "we don't truly want it", or sabotaging our efforts by not responding, not showing up, forgetting the details, imagining conflict, etc.
The root is the same: the fear of not being wanted.
The good news is that we don't have to succumb to fear and give up. Most people marked by their peers as brave will tell you that they do feel fear, they just know how to act despite it.
In this session, we will explore a couple of practical tools to work with the fear of rejection and convert it into a dynamic force that propels us forward.
